Clothes are the most intimate artefacts that touch our skin. Every day our moving bodies are shaping and being shaped by what we wear. The sensations that unfold during this reciprocal dialogue can be experienced more intensely by people on the autism spectrum and/or with ADHD. Whilst distressing sensory experiences have the power to disable, I believe that pleasant sensations can comfort and empower. For the last four years I have been collaborating with neurodivergent individuals and communities to elucidate their lived sensory experiences and explore ways that clothing design can improve their quality of life.
